Thinking with my hands

I watched a video from Justin Sung about notetaking and he mentioned something about his process that struck a cord:

  1. Make it wrong.
  2. Make it shorter.
  3. Make it again.

This somewhat describes the mental kinesthetics I go through before diving into making something for the first time. I gather just enough info to intuit what I think is the process is before diving in. Just like plans and enemy engagements, it never goes off without a hitch, but I learn a lot in the process, and I turn around and apply that knowledge immediately. This is what happened when I wrote about the process of making my journal in Making Stuff.

Mistakes are where we learn. Everything else is just emulation of information.
